WHEN TO COME...
Fall
Fall, here, is a feast of colours: all leaves change from green to red, orange and yellow. The main festival organised in town for the season is BergamoScienza. Its numerous events are free.
Each of the 4 seasons is completely distinct: summer is hot, winter is cold, and spring and fall are mild and pleasant.
Summer
In Summer during the day the town may appear asleep, because of the heat, but at night the venetian walls and many places downtown, like Parco della Trucca and Borgo Santa Caterina, are full of life with open parties and an envolving "movida".
Spring
Basically, spring is a great time of the year to travel to Bergamo. There takes place, in March, Bergamo Film Meeting and Bergamo Jazz Festival.
Winter
Bergamo during winter is rather quiet. If you want to go to the many nearby ski resorts in the Alps, winter is obviously the best time to go. There is a pretty good choice of ski paths on the mountains north of Bergamo this time of year and it's never too late to launch yourself downhill. Pure fun!
